I have yet to write on my blog about the trip that Mandy and I are on or why we are on it. I guess part of me knew that she had it pretty well covered but, truth be told, part of me wanted to wait until we were actually on it to even begin reflecting on our journey.
About 16 months ago, Mandy and I decided to adopt a little girl. After a false start, we chose China and began the long and very paperwork-intensive process. Our journey has been amazing, filled with wonderful moments–like when we first saw our daughter’s photograph–and some frustrating moments as well (two national governments are involved if that is any hint). Countless friends and family have walked beside us each step of the way, holding fundraisers, donating goods for our garage sale, praying for us, and just generally stepping up when we have needed them.
And now I find myself in Hong Kong about 36 hours from meeting our daughter–Molly Kate–face to face for the first time.
I know that it will be months (if not years) before I am able to put all of this into its proper perspective but I know one thing right now without a doubt. Mandy and I are on a trip of a lifetime. We have been given the opportunity to experience an amazing culture while being blessed with brining Molly Kate home. Mandy will be blogging nearly every day of our trip but I will share some thoughts over the next two weeks and beyond.
